Last week, the residents were reborn as artists. They read declarations of intentions to their practices and hopes for the future. Then they climbed through a giant, modernist "birth tunnel" and were anointed with tempura paint in primary colors. We played Plantasia, which was composed in the 70s with the intentions of helping plants grow.
It felt surreal and pregnant (ha!) with emotion. I feel so honored to be working with this group of intense, talented artists from a variety of disciplines.
